Work With Us

Recruitment for 2024 onboarding is now closed. We will be recruiting for new counsellors in February 2025. You can still fill out an EOI, but keep in mind you might not get a response until next year.

At Rough Patch we have built a supportive, warm and collegial community for our counsellors. We understand that therapists can feel isolated or miss out on learning and support opportunities in solo private practice. We’ve cultivated a nurturing environment where counsellors can feel genuinely supported and “held” by their colleagues and Rough Patch management.

Our community also gives counsellors the opportunity to learn from clinicians across a diverse range of specialties and backgrounds. Through case consultations, training and conversation, counsellors expand their clinical skills by being exposed to new perspectives and areas of expertise by their colleagues.

To join our community of practice, you must hold a Bachelor degree or postgraduate degree in counselling, psychology or social work, be registered with a professional association (eg; PACFA, ACA, APA, APS, AASW), hold your own professional indemnity and public liability insurance, manage your own accounting and clinical record keeping, and agree to work within our community of practice guidelines, including attending monthly community of practice/clinical supervision meetings.

We welcome counsellors who are committed to practicing through inclusive, non-pathologising, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-homophobic, queer-friendly, and anti-misogynist frameworks and actively seek to further their education about these issues on an ongoing basis. We seek to work in anti-oppressive ways while acknowledging that we are always learning and can always do better.

We are seeking applications from people who hold marginalised identities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people of colour and culturally diverse people, people with disabilities, people with diverse bodies, LGBTQIA+ people, gender-expansive people and neurodivergent people. If you hold a marginalised identity and you require support completing the application, please contact us.
