We need a new home!

Rough Patch has been going through its own rough patch recently. Just like most Sydneysiders, we’ve been hit hard by mould and leaks over the past year, which unfortunately means our current home is no longer the safe, calm space our clients need.

On top of this, to remain financially stable in the long-term, keep our no waitlist policy and meet the ever-increasing demands for affordable mental healthcare in Sydney’s Inner West, we have to find a larger space to expand our service.

Unfortunately, we can’t do this in our current building. If we don’t move, we expect Rough Patch will have to cease operating in 2023.

Since we operate on a social enterprise model, everything we earn goes back into providing affordable counselling services for our local community.

That’s why, during October, we’re running our Rough Patch Needs A New Home fundraising campaign to help raise money for our urgent move.

Our aim is to raise $10,000 so that we can:

  • Escape the mould(!) and move to a safe, warm and inviting space for our clients

  • Increase wheelchair access to counselling rooms and bathrooms

  • Continue to alleviate the strain on Medicare services by saving the system $89.65 per therapy session

With $25,000 we can expand our service to ensure long-term viability and no waitlists by:

  • Finding a larger space with double the amount of treatment rooms (from 2 to 4) – this means we can support more people and guarantee our long-term sustainability by increasing the number of sessions we can offer

  • Building a group room so we can offer group therapy, as well as lower-cost programs and classes that build better mental health

How can you help?

If you know anyone who might be able to support us in finding an affordable space, please reach out to Amber at

We're Making Some Changes

We have made the decision to transition to an online-only service delivery model.

Our online clinic will continue to offer access to valuable mental health support for individuals, couples, and families, who will be able to engage in therapy from the comfort and convenience of their own space.

As part of our transition, we will also be closing our mental health shop.
