Ways You Can Support Us

We need a new home!

If we don’t move, we expect Rough Patch will have to cease operating in 2023. Donate to Rough Patch Needs A New Home campaign in October to help us find a new home for Rough Patch. Find out how you can get involved here.
To keep our innovative model running, we rely on support from the community to help us provide affordable counselling and make sure we are a sustainable resource for everyone who needs us. We are truly grateful for people who want to help us with our vision and mission. You can help us continue our work in the following ways.

Make a financial contribution

Our unique social enterprise model doesn’t rely on government funding, so donations help us grow and provide continuing care to people who need us. The simplest way to do this is with a monetary contribution which we can use to meet our specific needs – such as program development, employing staff and consultants, maintaining a beautiful shop and counselling rooms – as well as our day-to-day responsibilities, such as building maintenance, utilities and cleaning.

In particular, regular financial contributions mean that we can plan for staff wages, paying bills, program development and growth.

If you’d like to do fundraising for us, please let us know beforehand so we can be involved and support you with resources and information.

Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit social enterprise, but not a registered charity. This means we can’t issue tax receipts. However, we’d like to thank you by adding you or your business to our donor page, linking to your website, and inviting you to VIP donor events from time to time.

Donate goods or services

At the moment, we need help with the following;

  • Grant writing and funding opportunities
  • Website maintenance (WordPress and Elementor)
  • Web retail planning, management and implementation (WordPress)
  • SEO optimisation
  • Copywriting for print and SEO
  • Social media management and marketing
  • Advertising, marketing and publicity consulting
  • Printed products such as flyers, stickers, stationery, and retail product packaging
  • Custom-branded material such as printed tote bags, t-shirts and mugs
  • Retail merchandising
  • Furniture (new or good condition second-hand)
  • Books, mental health resources, self-care items and homewares for resale in shop

Volunteer

If you have experience in mental healthcare, retail or administration, and would like to support our mission by volunteering your time, we’d love to hear from you.

Available volunteer opportunities include retail and administration assistance with a mental health focus. We also welcome volunteers with specialist skills such as SEO, copywriting, marketing and publicity, retail merchandising, and related skills.

As a volunteer, we can thank you by offering a discount on products in the shop, discounted or free access to training we host, and other benefits.

Buy from our mental health store

All sales from our shop go back into providing affordable counselling and programmes. We offer books, mental health resources, self-care items, gift packs and other products that support good mental health. We also offer gift certificates for use in the shop (not redeemable for counselling services).

Wherever possible, our products are sourced from businesses who share our passion for social justice and the environment. We prioritise products which are hand-made and local, environmentally-friendly, or support marginalised groups of people, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people of colour, womxn and non-binary people, LGBTQIA+ people, and people living with mental illness, disabilities and chronic illness, among others.

By buying from us, you support our sustainability and growth.

Share what we do on socials

You can tell people about what we do by sharing and reposting our social media posts on your own channels and talking about what we do in the community. If you need any extra info about what we do, get in touch so we can email you our information pack and social media tiles.

We're Making Some Changes

We have made the decision to transition to an online-only service delivery model.

Our online clinic will continue to offer access to valuable mental health support for individuals, couples, and families, who will be able to engage in therapy from the comfort and convenience of their own space.

As part of our transition, we will also be closing our mental health shop.
