Do you find yourself replaying conversations long after they’ve ended, second-guessing decisions, researching every possible option, or struggling to switch your mind off?
Many people assume they overthink because they haven’t found the right answer yet. If they could just analyse things a little more, prepare a little better, or think through every possible outcome, they would finally feel calm and certain. Unfortunately, overthinking rarely works that way. In this psychoeducational workshop, counsellor Nathan Gurry explores what overthinking is, why it happens, what keeps it going, and what can actually help. Drawing on his counselling and teaching experience, Nathan takes a practical and accessible approach to understanding the patterns that can leave us feeling mentally exhausted, overwhelmed, and stuck.
Rather than focusing on diagnosis or labels, this workshop explores overthinking as a protective strategy. You’ll learn why common habits such as analysing, worrying, mentally rehearsing conversations, replaying past events, and trying to predict every possible outcome can unintentionally keep us trapped in cycles of thinking.
Nathan Gurry is a counsellor with Rough Patch Affordable Counselling and Healthy Mind for Life. He works with people experiencing overthinking, anxiety, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, and people-pleasing patterns. Nathan combines practical counselling strategies with clear, accessible education to help people better understand their experiences and develop more helpful ways of responding.
This workshop is educational in nature and is not a substitute for individual counselling, psychological treatment, crisis support, or medical advice. No refunds are available on digital products once access has been provided.
